An echocardiogram is an ultrasound imaging examination of the heart. It is based on the emission and recording of ultrasonic waves. The acoustic wave generated by the device reaches deep into the tissues and, depending on the tissue bounces off them. The ultrasonic signal is converted into electric energy transmitted to the ultrasound computer, which shapes the appropriate image.
