What Is Colonoscopy?

A colonoscopy is an examination of the lower digestive tract. It involves viewing the inside of the large intestine. It is performed using special equipment called a colonoscope. It has the form of a flexible speculum with a diameter of about 10 mm, with a camera at the end, which is inserted through the anus. The recorded image is sent to a monitor.
