What Is AIDS?
AIDS means acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, a disease caused by HIV. AIDS is a chronic disease that causes progressive impairment of the infected person’s immune system. Infection most often spreads through blood, sexual contact, or from mother to child during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
